We are so proud of our outstanding speakers and wish them all the best in their future public speaking endeavours.

Genready - Stage 2 and 3
Over the last few weeks, students in Stage 2 and 3 have engaged with teachers from 'Genready' - an organisation focused on educating students on topics such as: communication skills, navigating friendships, healthy relationships and preparing to be teen ready. These sessions have been well received by the students and have provided our them with the skills to navigate challenges they may face with social interactions and using appropriate terminology.
In response to some concerning incidents this term with online behaviour outside of school hours, Stage 3 students also learned about cyber safety and the lasting impact of digital footprint when using with social media. This message has been further reinforced by the teachers, as we prepare the Year 6 students for high school and navigating the teenage years.

From Term 3, Miss Amy Collishaw will be teaching Year 1 on Monday and Tuesday. Mrs McCabe will continue to share the teaching duties on Tuesday, as well as her regular days on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The class name will change to 1CM for the remainder of the year.
Miss Collishaw joins the Yates team from Kent Rd Public School, where she has been teaching Year 1 over the last 2 years.

End of term
As we reach the end of Term 2, I would like to thank the community for their ongoing support of the school: in the uniform shop, at P and C meetings, in the canteen on Wednesdays and during events such as the school, zone and Sydney West cross country carnivals, and multicultural public speaking competitions. We are looking forward to more parent involvement next term with fundraising and community events.

Student Representative Council (SRC) -
SRC Projects
This year’s SRC are a very dedicated group of students who are working tirelessly to be good representatives for their classes and to make our school the best that it can be. During our fortnightly meetings, the students discuss things that they have noticed around our school and work together to come up with solutions that will improve our school environment. As a result of their hard work, the following school improvement projects will soon be underway:
- new lines will be painted on the netball court
- a basketball backboard will be installed on the brick wall behind the staffroom
- a new netball post/ring will be installed near K block
- a new reversible basketball/netball post will be installed near synthetic grass
- new soft fall will be laid in the library COLA, along with painted lines for 6 handball courts
In addition to all of this, new table tennis bats and balls have also recently been purchased and are already being used during break times.
I want to commend the SRC for all of their hard work this semester. Their efforts have made a big impact and are making a real difference to our school. We can’t wait to see all of the improvements to our school next term!
Beanies for Brain Cancer Fundraiser
Last Wednesday, the SRC held their first fundraiser for 2025 – Beanies for Brain Cancer. It was fantastic to see so many students wearing their beanies and supporting such a worthwhile cause. Special thanks to Ms McCabe who very kindly donated three beanies for the SRC to raffle in order to boost their fundraising. Congratulations to Alexa (6MR), Anamaria (3XW) and Ellie (KD) for being the lucky winners.
As a result of their fundraising efforts, the SRC will be donating $456.00 to the Mark Hughes Foundation for brain cancer research. Thank you to all of the students who contributed a gold coin donation or purchased a raffle ticket. We appreciate your support and look forward to raising more money for brain cancer research next year when we hold our next Beanies for Brain Cancer day.

SRC Award
Congratulations to 3XW who received the SRC award at the Week 9 P-6 Assembly. Thank you for always using the school sports equipment safely and responsibly. We appreciate you looking after our sporting equipment so that others can also enjoy using it.
Thank You
Thank you to Doris from 5K who played the piano for the National Anthem at last week’s P-6 Assembly so wonderfully. She did a marvellous job and it was great to have her accompanying the students as they sang. If your child would like to join Doris in playing the National Anthem at Assembly, please let Mrs Miller know. All instruments are welcome!

New Books
We have had lots of new books arrive in the Library over the last couple of weeks. Here are some of our recent additions:
- ‘The Travelling Bookshop’ series - Mim Cohen is a young girl who roams the world in a travelling bookshop, with her dad and brother and a horse called Flossy. Flossy leads them where she will, to the place where they're needed most ... the place where the perfect book will find its way home. This middle-grade fiction series is suitable for readers aged 7 and above.
- ‘The Girls Who Changed the World’ – this fantastic series by renowned Australian author, Jackie French, is about a twelve-year-old girl named Ming Qong who is convinced that girls must have changed the world, even if they are rarely mentioned in history books. In this five-part series, Ming travels through time and meets the girls who did, in fact, change history.
- Fans of the ‘I Survived…’ series will be pleased to know that ‘I Survived the Great Molasses Flood of 1919’ has been added to our collection. It’s sure to be as popular as the other titles in this series.
Holiday Borrowing
Tuesday, 1st July will be the final borrowing day for this term. All students are welcome to borrow up to three books to read during the upcoming school holidays. We have lots of new books for the students to borrow so there is sure to be something for everyone.
