Library

New Books

We have had lots of new books arrive in the Library over the last couple of weeks. Here are some of our recent additions:

  • ‘The Travelling Bookshop’ series - Mim Cohen is a young girl who roams the world in a travelling bookshop, with her dad and brother and a horse called Flossy. Flossy leads them where she will, to the place where they're needed most ... the place where the perfect book will find its way home. This middle-grade fiction series is suitable for readers aged 7 and above.

  • ‘The Girls Who Changed the World’ – this fantastic series by renowned Australian author, Jackie French, is about a twelve-year-old girl named Ming Qong who is convinced that girls must have changed the world, even if they are rarely mentioned in history books. In this five-part series, Ming travels through time and meets the girls who did, in fact, change history.

  • Fans of the ‘I Survived…’ series will be pleased to know that ‘I Survived the Great Molasses Flood of 1919’  has been added to our collection. It’s sure to be as popular as the other titles in this series.

Holiday Borrowing

Tuesday, 1st July will be the final borrowing day for this term. All students are welcome to borrow up to three books to read during the upcoming school holidays. We have lots of new books for the students to borrow so there is sure to be something for everyone.

You’ve watched the movie, now read the book!

Many of the movies and television shows that we enjoy are based on books. Our library has a big collection of books that have been given the Hollywood treatment. These include:

  • the Harry Potter series
  • the Percy Jackson series
  • Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events
  • The Worst Witch
  • The Bad Guys
  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid
  • The Adventures of Captain Underpants
  • Horrible Histories
  • The Chronicles of Narnia
  • Round the Twist
  • Matilda
  • The Witches
  • The Wizard of Oz
  • Runt
  • The Spiderwick Chronicles
  • Madeline

Next time that your child visits the Library, perhaps they might like to borrow one of these stories.
