Harmony Day - Everyone Belongs
Last week we celebrated Harmony Day - a time when we learn more about multiculturalism with stories from the many different cultures at Yates. Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural background, and united by a set of core values.
Thank you to our speakers at the assembly - Mrs Lee, Miss Mel, Ms Garcia and Ms Bimba. We appreciated you sharing stories about the values, beliefs and traditions from your cultural background.
A big thank you to Mrs Gale, Mrs Aghdam and Mrs Dyball for their enormous efforts in organising the week of festivities.

Pulse Alive
Congratulations to our Pulse Alive dancers and singers. The performance on the night was fantastic and a great reflection of their dedication in rehearsals and meticulous planning by the teachers. Thank you to the parents for their support over the months of preparations and on the night.
Well done to Mrs West, Ms Yu and Ms Bimba for their commitment and hardwork since our acceptance into the Pulse Alive festival last November.

Sydney West Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to Ian and Ruben who competed at the Sydney West swimming carnival last Thursday, 27th. With over 300 schools in the region, the standard of competition is very strong and our boys performed incredible well.
Well done to both boys for their outstanding performances in the school, zone and Sydney West swimming carnivals!

School Payments
This year we will not be invoicing parents for school or P & C contributions.
Instead, in Semester 1 we are only asking for a payment for Term 1 gymnastics ($20), Term 2 athletics skills ($20), all of which have been subsided through a school grant. These programs are being delivered by the Moving Bodies fitness company.
In addition, there will be a $25 cost for a Spelling Mastery workbook for students in Years 1-6.
We would greatly appreciate your support in paying for these activities. Where possible, please pay online through School Bytes using the ‘make a payment’ option on the website.
Easter celebrations - Friday, 11th April
In true Yates tradition, we have planned some eggciting activities to celebrate Easter this year. We hope that you can help prepare your child for our Easter Eggstravaganza and join us on the day!
Easter Hat Parade: P-2
Preschool students will make their hats and store them at school. The Dolphins are welcome to join us for the parade if they can.
- You don’t have to spend a lot of money. Just a piece of cardboard and a little imagination is all you need to get started, or add some bunny ears and flowers to a hat you have at home. Decorations can be found at most discount stores.
- On the day, children will wear their hat or bring it in a plastic bag.
Egg Decorating Parade: 3-6
- You can start with a boiled egg, paper mache egg, foam egg or any other creative ideas eg. a superhero.
- Your egg could be someone famous or an animal.
- Make sure you think of a way to present your egg and keep it safe until the parade.
- We suggest bringing it to school in a box for protection.
Parents and carers are invited to come along and join the fun! We hope children and their families can all help in the creation of the hats or eggs and have lots of fun in the lead up to this special day.
P & C fundraisers
Tickets will be on sale from 7th - 11th April under the COLA from 8.30 - 9.00am for the:
- Name game - guess the name of the brown bunny on display - $1 per guess
- Guessing competition - guess the number of Easter eggs in the jars - $1 per guess
- Easter raffle - fantastic prizes on offer from the P & C - $2 per ticket
We are kindly asking for raffle donations. Please email yatesavenuepandc@gmail.com if you’re able to contribute with a donation. Prizes will be drawn during the parade celebrations.
